Petal Early Learning Collaborative PreK 4 Program
- The Petal Early Learning Collaborative (PELC) is a partnership between the Petal School District (PSD), Pearl River Valley Opportunity (PRVO), Panther's Den Learning Center, Life Construction Learning Academy and The Coleman Center for Families and Children. The classes are full-day programs that serve eligible four-year-old students at Petal Primary School, Charles H. Johnson Head Start Center, Panther's Den Learning Center and the Life Construction Learning Academy.
- PELC PreK 4 Program Application Qualifications
- To qualify for the PELC PreK 4 Program, students must be four years old on or before September 1. All students must live with their parents/legal guardians and meet all requirements for attendance in PSD. All students wishing to attend will be required to apply. All students will be given an early learning screener to assess vocabulary and foundational skills. The general education students will be chosen based on a universal screener and ability to serve as peer models for students with disabilities. IEP committees will meet to discuss each student with a current special education eligibility. They will determine who will benefit from participation and develop specific IEP goals.

- Parents/Guardians who will be registering for the first time must bring the following documents:
- Copy of the student's birth certificate
- Copy of income verification (any of the following)
- W-2 or Income Tax Return
- Signed statement from the employer for wages earned
- Signed statement or computer print-out from a public agency for public assistance received
- TANF, Social Security, Child Support, V.A. Benefits, etc.
- Family’s insurance information (if applicable)
- Copy of the student's Medicaid card (if applicable)
- Copy of student's CHIP Card (if applicable)
- Social Security numbers for all household members
- Proof of guardianship (if applicable)

Developmentally Delayed PreK 3 & PreK 4
- The Petal School District Special Services Office (SSO) participates with the Mississippi Department of Education to identify, locate and evaluate children who have health impairments or physical, mental, communicative and/or emotional disabilities. Currently, the Special Services Department has a developmentally delayed preschool serving three and four year olds. The goal for the SSO is to meet individual student needs.
